As our children approach their third birthday, we prepare them for their next move. We always respond to the individual needs and inclinations of each child and so, in some cases, they may move before their third birthday and with others we may wait a little longer until we feel they are ready for this next step on their First Steps journey.

From creative constructions to wide-ranging interests, there is always something unique and exciting happening in one of our 3 Pre School Rooms. The Pre School Rooms are the last steps in your child’s early years education. As children approach primary school age, our staff help to prepare them for school and ensure that they are ready for their next big step. Many of the other activities that take place in the Pre School Rooms are based on what your child has shown a keen interest in.

Inside the Pre School Rooms there are lots of other play-based learning activities, including imaginative play, music, construction toys, computers and technology, books and literacy, maths and numeracy, playdough, sand and early writing activities. The children in our Pre School Rooms are very busy, curious and learning all the time. We plan activities based on their interests and can be doing all sorts of different things on any given day, from baking to learning about dinosaurs, or planting vegetables in our garden.

All children aged 3 and 4 years old (starting the school term after your child’s 3 rd birthday) are entitled to up to 1140 hours per year of funding towards their nursery care.  Please contact us for more information on how you can use your funding at First Steps Nursery.
